Hits the sweet spot between Instagram and overly structured recipe apps. I love sharing my own ideas as much as seeing others, just so easy.

Would be 5 stars if you could search for an ingredient. Love the idea of it though!
Its not bad for the first released version, but Id like the ability to edit my own captions and to "unfavorite" a post if I tapped a heart by accident. Im loving the filters, auto-tags, and the community aspect of the app, though!
Really enjoying this app - its taking all of the food inspiration I want to see and putting it in one place. I love that people put in tips for cooking, so I can learn without following a formal recipe. Nothing frustrates me more then when I see a food photo on social media, but I dont know the ingredients! This app auto-populates them so you always know whats in a dish. Excited to be inspired by this app to cook new, fun dishes!
I love beautiful, perfect pictures of food, but they rarely seem related to what’s actually going on in my kitchen. I love meticulous, step-by-step recipes too, but when I’m cooking for my family and friends I’m rarely following one to the letter. The way I really cook—and the way I talk about cooking with my friends who love to cook as much as I do—is somewhere in between the two. It’s about an ingredient or technique that’s inspiring or frustrating me. What I cooked last night, described in two sentences. A twist on a well known recipe. The fact that caramelized onions are good in everything. How I love the idea of making pasta, but can’t be bothered and frankly am a little scared of it. Sometimes it’s about what we eat when there’s 20 minutes to make dinner and no one had time to go shopping. This way of thinking about food and cooking is what (Not)Recipes is all about. It’s a safe space to celebrate real cooking over personal branding and all-knowing experts. It’s where I want to go to talk about what I’m cooking and figure out what to cook next.
this app is awesome because it connects me to a community of foodies that love to eat, photograph, and share!
Absolutely love the app since this is what I typically use recipes for: inspiration and guidance but not following it exactly. A few suggestions: 1) ability to edit and delete posts 2) ability to follow other users and hashtags 3) contests with prizes
What a fun way to test, share and get tips on recipes with great pics to support the inspirations!! Food anyone ? Start cooking and baking !
A must have for anyone who enjoys cooking and has interest in learning/sharing with others who are passionate about food. I love the site and this is a great addition.
Great photos, but I LOVE discovering recipes on Food 52. Would like recipes as well.
I love this app. To the person who rated it poorly and said they wanted recipes there are plenty of people who leave recipes or steps in their description or links to recipes. I think they should add a way to follow people though just do you can follow your favorites Besides that its all good:)
I started off using this app to upload my own recipes (which gave me the incentive to actually cook every night!), but am using it now as dinner planning inspiration too. By distilling the recipes into a "not recipe," it makes them all easier to follow and gives me ideas for what to cook. Loving the meal inspiration and the motivation to keep cooking! Keep it coming!
I love this idea, but please update to be able to see who exactly likes the photo and to double tap to like a photo!
Not really sure who this app is for. I realize it says NOT recipes in the name... But its just not useful for me. I was hoping there would be some other compelling reason to use the app - but an Instagram for food isnt really my thing.
I use my iPad in my kitchen to follow recipes... Because this is only for the phone layout I do not see myself getting much use out of it. Are there any plans to create an iPad version?
Wont connect to Facebook, app keeps shutting down. overall seems glitchy. Cool app though! It has potential.
Barely even opens on my iPhone 5, downloaded several times. Super disappointed, Ill give it a few months then try again.
Why on Earth isnt there an option to search by ingredient or hashtag? Why are all of the hashtags pre-selected?
I am so obsessed with this app! Constant stream of inspiring cooking ideas from people all over, and you dont have to fuss over perfect photos or precise recipes to join the community.
I love the idea of this app but it crashes when you try to use the camera. (I have an iphone 6) I noticed that the app does not ask for permission to use photos, and the app isnt an option in privacy settings. Hopefully this diagnosis can lead to a quick update! I just cooked a bomb meal and want to share it !!
